Semi-detached villas Sofienalpenstraße
Vienna
Project: Construction of semi-detached villas
Location: Vienna
Status: Design 2021 - Start of construction 2022
Year: 2021 Design
Client: Benim Bau GmbH
Size: 311 m2
Only a few projects in our office have received as much attention over a long term as this semi-detached house in Vienna.
The client's requirements changed several times, until the property was finally resold without development. The new owner recommissioned us with the design services and each time a completely new design was created.
The new owner commissioned us again with the planning (design) services and each time a completely new design was created.
But now it should finally be built, the start of construction has been set, the excavators are ready.
The owner of this project is a classic property developer, which, as usual, meant that we didn't know the future residents and their individual needs. And so we just designed a building where we would have loved to have moved in ourselves.
Corbusier's Pavillon de l'Esprit Nouvesu and Loos's ideas of the spatial plan (spatial concept - Raumplan) have particularly inspired us to design a house that primarily follows the logic of the topography (the extremely steep slope and the surrounding forest).
The focus is on the living area on shifted levels, with alternating spatial impressions due to different room heights and changing views of the outside.
Anyway, we're excited to see how the final residents will like it!
