A project in the middle of the listed area of downtown Mödling. The property and the inventory are unique in terms of their location and nature.

The most important premise for the design was therefore to set a clearly recognizable counterpoint, which should also be clearly legible in terms of design, while at the same time preserving the historic building as much as possible.

Only a few steps away from the pedestrian zone is the classical turn-of-the-century building with its wonderfully preserved, articulated façade facing the street side within the ("big") urban development structure.

However, if you enter the building through the beautiful historical portal, you quickly recognize the overwhelming contrast. A huge, green park opens up to the west in the middle of the city - with slightly sloping terrain and thus a heavenly view. We were to design a modern extension for our client in order to build an additional high-quality living space here - a sensitive task if the beautiful existing building were not to be affected.

The most important premise for the design was therefore to set a clearly recognizable counterpoint, which should also be clearly legible in terms of design, while at the same time preserving the historic building as much as possible. All new apartments were to be "punched" through the building so that old and new are visible in each unit, and separated in the middle by a clearly defined gap.

The addition to the west was to become the open gateway to the garden. A completely dissolved facade, the windows of which can be completely slid to the side, enables the park and the living quarters to become one. We were also able to convince the Mödling design advisory board with the concept.

We hope that it will be completed soon.
